Lockdown Colouring-in 1: Oliver Brindley

Last December we made a colouring-in book supplement that was free with Sideburn 39, full of images drawn by Japanese firefighter, part-time bike shop mechanic and artist, Takashi Urashima. Over the weekend a message referring to the drawings came in from Vir, co-owner of Sideburn's Nepal and Himalayan tour partner - Helmet Stories. Vir has a young daughter and, like the citizens of many countries at the moment, is under some kind of Coronavirus lockdown.

His suggestion was to allow people to download some of the images so they could print them at home and either colour them in themselves, or give them to their children to do. It works on desktop too, if you have art programs. So that's what we're doing. It doesn't seem possible to simply drag and drop an image off our website, so here's a dropbox link.

The first image is of young UK flat tracker Oliver Brindley, taken from an original photo by Scotto Toepfer of Ollie racing at Perris short track. Oliver suffered life-changing injuries in an AFT race in September 2019. He is still near the beginning of a long road of recovery and rehabilitation. Our thoughts are still with him and his family.

Enjoy your colouring-in like Ollie enjoyed his racing. Come back later in the week for the next instalment.

Work remains the copyright of Takashi Urashima.
