JD Beach had never won an AFT/GNC main until two weeks ago, when he beat Briar Bauman at the Arizona SuperTT.
JD Beach had never won an American National Superbike race until last week, when he triumphed in the MotoAmerica race at Virginia International Raceway, on a Yamaha R1.
JD is back on the Estenson Yamaha MT-02 at the So Cal Half-Mile, Perris tonight. He was third there, last time the AFT raced at Perris, in 2017.
All Beach needs is to win a mile, half-mile and short track and he'll have a proper grand slam, the first rider to so since Doug Chandler (below) in the 1980s. Only four riders have won all four disciplines of flat track, plus a national road race (though there are a number of riders who have completed a flat track slam). The four to do the Grand Slam are Dick Mann, Kenny Roberts (who completed it in one year), Bubba Shobert and Chandler.
