2019 DTRA dates are out! For those who don't know, the DTRA is run on a not for profit basis by a group of volunteers headed up by Anthony Brown and Anna Butler. They took over the running and organisation of the UK dirt track national series for the 2013 season and how overseen a blossoming of the sport in the nation, building on the foundations of Short Track UK's trailblazing work.
The club grows in membership every year and introduces improvements and new ways of marketing itself. 2018 saw the introduction of transponder timing (with an app for live times); Indian Motorcycle as a series sponsor; Dunlop as the official tyre sponsor and a great end of year awards party at Krazy Horse.
Here's the news for 2019, directly from the DTRA race director, Anthony Brown:
2019 is an important year for the DTRA and we are pleased to have the continued support of Indian Motorcycle. The 2018 season saw a massive increase in interest in the sport of Flat Track racing here in the UK and across Europe. We had so many riders visit us from all over the world that we thought it would be a good idea to pick the cream of European Flat Track events and create the first ever European Championship.
We hope that the Championship is the start of something special where we can really showcase the talents we are starting to develop in Europe and we look forward to sending the winning Pro rider to compete in a race meeting over in the USA with the help of long time friend of the DTRA Johnny Lewis of Moto-Anatomy as the championship prize.

The DTRA is about the promotion of Dirt Track Racing so for 2019 we will be pushing hard to try to promote something that we believe in. We wanted to create an easy to enter European series that includes some of the biggest and highest profile events outside the USA. The events already exist but the success of the championship will depend on how many riders choose to support it. We can add more events and classes in the future but for now lets all enjoy the 2019 series and see if we can continue to grow the sport.
