DTRA Hooligan Title Goes Down To The Wire

The final round of the Indian Motorcycle-sponsored DTRA European Hooligan championship takes place this Saturday at DirtQuake.

Grant Martin #36 is leading the championship on the Sideburn-supported Maidstone Harley-Davidson Street Rod 750. Gary Birtwistle #11 is in second place in the standings after starting the season on a Krazy Horse Indian Scout and then being set up with a ride on a Ducati Scrambler. Confusing the scoring slightly is the DTRA rule that riders must drop the results from one round and Gary’s worst scoring result netted him fewer point than Grant’s worst result.

If Grant’s final result is better than Gary’s then Grant is champion. If Gary comes first and Grant second, I think they’re tied on points, after each dropping a round. And while it’s a two-horse for the title, it certainly isn’t for the win.

Any of the four Krazy Horse Indian riders – Tokelove, Falkman, Kirkpatrick #152 (above), Hatton - could pull off a win. So could Max Hunt, on the Ducati #243 (above). Also, Survivor Customs’ Mike Hill is making his debut in the Hooligan class on Adam Brink’s Noise Cycles XG750 (that we featured in SB29 when it was still in America).

It’ll be a nail-biter because Indian have put up a brand new bike as the prize to the Hooligan series champ.

Get along to Arena Essex this Saturday to see how it all shakes out.
