Looks like one prototype engine has taken over from another, with a sweet spot in the middle when bikes with cheap, readily available production bike engines could compete at the highest level.
I don't blame Indian for winning, they asked for permission to build a prototype race engine and were given it and they're in it to win it. (By prototype I mean, not production bike based. MotoGP is prototype racing, Superbike racing is production bike based). They've built a hell of a bike and put the current best riders on it. In the two occasions they haven't filled the podium this year Baker was in hospital (Daytona) and suffered a mechanical DNF while in third place at Charlotte. I knew the bike would be very good, but I thought it might have a few more teething troubles to allow the other riders to get a look in, but, as you the results show, it hasn't. Mission accomplished for the Indian team, but I'm beginning to wonder at what cost to the pro sport's long-term health? Discuss...
