Anyone with even the slightest interest in flat track is awed by the racing that takes place on mile tracks. It's what virtually everyone thinks of when they think flat track (or it was, perhaps plenty of new people to the sport think of Dirt Quake and hooligan racing now).
The good news is, amateurs can sign up to race the world famous Sacramento Mile in May this year. Our friends are the CFTA are back in charge of the amateur race and are hosting it the day after the American Flat Track pro race on 21 May.
I raced this exact meeting in 2015 and can't talk highly enough about the CFTA's race organisation and friendliness. We go way back with CFTA boss, Randy Kremlacek. He has written a number of memorable features for Sideburn in our history, with another coming up in the next issue. He is a former amateur racer and runs a tight ship.
