Warr's Super Hooligan

Warr's of King's Road, Fulham, UK were established as a Harley dealer in 1924, making them Europe's oldest H-D showroom. Their in-house custom builder, Charlie Stockwell, created this tracker based on a Sportster 1200 Roadster for the annual Battle of the Kings custom competition for UK and Ireland dealers. Warr's have won the last two years.

'I have been a huge fan of flat track racing for years and years after being exposed to it early in my career with Harley back in the 1990s,' explains Charlie, 'With it becoming a little more mainstream and its fanbase growing around the world I wanted to design and build a couple of road-going custom versions. This year's Battle Of The King’s competition was an ideal platform to show one of them off.'

The Battle of the Kings competition specifies three models that all entries must be built from. For 2017 the models were Iron 883, The Forty-Eight and Roadster 1200. The rules also state that custom builds must be offered for sale at maximum prices of £12,995 for a bike built from the Iron 883, and £14,995 for those based on either of the other two. Charlie's Battle builds are usually sold before he even starts them. Warr's custom builds can be four times or more what this bike's price was pegged at.

The tank with the cut-outs is a regular Warr's modification and many of the modifications are from Charlie's extensive stock of take-offs. The seat is from a Sportster 48, the forks guards used to be exhaust heat shield; rims are stock Harley laced to Sportster hubs; shocks are H-D Screamin Eagle piggybacks; the rear fender is the original re-shaped; pegs and grips are out of H-D's catalogue.

What isn't off the shelf or out of any catalogue is the exhaust. 'The system is pretty special,' admits Charlie,  'I have personal sponsorship with Vance & Hines for my custom projects. During the creative process of this project I was over at the Intermot show in Cologne with the Vice President of V&H John Potts. I told him I wanted to build a flat track inspired bike for BotK and needed something extra special. Something no one else could get their hands on. I wanted a pair of 2017 Factory H-D XG750R mufflers. V&H
manufacture these for the Factory H-D race team... He made it happen! So the stainless stepped headers we made ourselves with and slotted the V&H mufflers onto the ends. I cut and shaped the number boards / heat shield from sheet aluminium.'

Charlie has left much of the bike standard but what he has changed has really transformed the Roadster 1200.

This link shows you the other 2017 Battle of the Kings bikes, but don't expect to see any better than this one. Charlie understands the importance of stance.
